Who we are
We are a loving environment for people of different ages, backgrounds, cultures and nationalities. There are 44 members in the church, plus many others who attend and enjoy our events and meetings. The church is a member of the Baptist Union of Great Britian. It is run by general consensus of its members who meet at least once a quarter to discuss, pray and decide policy and important business matters. Day to day running of the church is administered by the deacons. Newport Baptist Church employs a Minister-in-Training to guide the members and teach God's word at public services.
Doctrinal Position
The church doctrinal position can be described as conservative evangelical. We uphold the Scriptures as the inspired Word of God, and seek to conform all our worship to the pattern of the Scriptures, whilst maintaining an openness to the gifts and leading of the Holy Spirit. The centre of our worship is the preaching of the Word of God. Our worship music blends contemporary and traditional styles. There is a healthy interest in worldwide mission.
In the community, for the community
Newport Baptist Church is located in a bustling market town, of around 15000 inhabitants, in the borough of Telford and Wrekin. The town has grown significantly over the past few years mainly from residential development and plans are in process for further development. We seek to be at the centre of the community in Newport offering ourselves and our extended premises for the glory of God.
Other organisations using the buildings are:
History Society, Photographic Society, Weight Watchers.
